S4 Manufacturing is a developer and manufacturer of innovative energy storage and peaking systems. This latest innovative flywheel technology is called Kinext. In the modern world, electrical networks are constantly interrupted by peaks and troughs. These deviations cause damage and disrupt clean and stable electrical service. Our team designed and manufactured a 1-ton flywheel system with a diameter of 3 meters and rotating at an outer edge speed of 1,500 km/h. The size and precision required to achieve this technical feat was extremely rewarding. One flywheel can switch 1 megawatt of power on and off in milliseconds. We have installed a fully operational 5 megawatt multi-system on our premises at our branch in the Netherlands.
