Then, now, later:
The rich history of Machinefabriek Boessenkool since 1902

29-08-2023

Machinefabriek Boessenkool is always ready for the future. Not only in terms of investments in the machinery or in terms of knowledge in trained personnel, but also the new office building and the completely new facade, after the sustainable renovation of the past period, are completely ready for today and tomorrow.

Contemporary entrance
Once parked in the extensive parking lot in front of the building on the Turfkade in Almelo, you immediately walk into a spacious reception hall after entering. When you go up the special staircase to the first floor, produced in our own factory, you immediately come face to face with the rich history of Machinefabriek Boessenkool. A beautiful timeline has been made on the wall in images and text, which chronologically shows a number of highlights of the company through different decades. This timeline shows the continuous development since its foundation in 1902.

Treasures from the past
This beautiful result of more than 120 years of Boessenkool history was of course a huge job and took almost 2 years of treasure digging in all. The information was everywhere and nowhere; from photo books and news clippings from the last century to new digital files on CD-ROMs, USB sticks and laptops. The most beautiful images came from all kinds of unexpected angles. In addition, the facts, such as names, locations, years had to be checked, which was quite a puzzle, but the result is impressive!

Relocations, directors, work and awards
The company’s roots lie in Almelo, where since 1902 we have been working with dedication on continuous growth and innovation. The company has dedicated itself to major projects over the years and has built up an impressive customer base. With a clear vision and the mentality of ‘cannot, does not exist’, Boessenkool has already received the necessary recognition for their special achievements. The dedication can be seen, among other things, in the photo with Princess Beatrix during the presentation of the Prince Friso Ingenieursprijs 2019 and at the Boessenkoolprijs, which has been awarded every year since 1969, without exception, to young technical talent in the region.

A special thanks goes to Eelco, Ellen and Jan van Boessenkool, who spent a lot of time and love bringing the stories and images to the surface and putting the many dots on the i. Their efforts have not only brought the company’s history to life, but also serve as an inspiration for future generations to carry on the legacy of Machinefabriek Boessenkool.
