Ready for the future: Making office building more substainable Machinefabriek Boessenkool

07-12-2021

If you want to grow, you have to look ahead. Standing still has never made anyone better. And at Machinefabriek Boessenkool we are constantly on the move and we certainly don’t sit still. With the growth we are experiencing, we have decided to expand and renovate our office building and thus also make it more sustainable. Machinefabriek Boessenkool wants to be ready for the future, on all fronts.

On the growth
With the growth that we are experiencing at Machinefabriek Boessenkool and hope to maintain, we have come to the conclusion that the current office building is becoming too small. The office building dates from 1956 and even though some things have been renovated and improved since then, it will eventually come to an end. A pleasant working atmosphere and working environment is important and now it is sometimes easier to make do than to ensure that the conditions are equally pleasant for everyone. Time for a new building with a view to growth and immediately focused on the future. In terms of capacity, but also in terms of sustainability. Since we at Boessenkool attach great importance to sustainability. For example, owner Eelco Osse is one of the initiators of H2Hub Twente.

Concrete plans
It was decided to build the new sustainable office building next to the current building. The parking lot is now located here. As soon as the new office building is completed, the old building will be demolished to make way for new parking facilities. Together with Webbink Bouwgroep and Van Kooten, parties that are not unfamiliar with sustainability, plans and designs have been made and a start has now been made on the construction of a modern and sustainable office building for Machinefabriek Boessenkool and its spinning off companies within the Osse Group. The new building is scheduled to be completed at the end of June 2022. Subsequently, the old building will be demolished, the new parking spaces will be realized and the facade of the factory will also be renovated and better insulated. Then we are completely ready for the future.

Sustainable initiatives
We have decided to take sustainability into account in the design, construction and furnishing of a building. And it is very nice that all parties think along with us in this and are also working sustainably. That ensures good faith in the future. For example, the building is optimally insulated, solar panels and a heat pump are installed for the generation of green energy and we get oxygen meters and air fresheners per room. But we also opted for a completely integrated system in our new office that is extremely energy-efficient and combines all the logic of lighting, heating and cooling and even takes the weather forecast into account.

We also take into account as many sustainable materials as possible in the furnishing of the new office, but we also want the employees to be able to do their work sustainably. This, for example, is due to an optimal ergonomic workplace.

From growth to sustainability; Machine factory Boessenkool will soon be ready for the future!
