MIG welding steel

At Machinefabriek Boessenkool we have an extensive machine park with which we can also perform all kinds of welding techniques. Together with our welding specialists and the best welding robots and machines, we can handle workpieces and projects from small to large. For example, we can TIG weld, MAG weld, MIG/MAG weld stainless steel for you, but also for large welding work and MIG welding steel you have come to the right place at Machinefabriek Boessenkool.

MIG welding

MIG welding is a welding technique in which a constant voltage is used. This MIG welding technique is suitable for most materials and filler wires and can therefore be applied to various metals. Think of MIG welding stainless steel, MIG welding aluminum and MIG welding steel. The MIG welding technique falls under electric arc welding and is often used for automation, partly because this technique is efficient and flexible and offers many possibilities.

MIG welding of steel

MIG welding is a specific welding technique that is very suitable for various materials. For example, MIG welding can be applied perfectly to steel. When MIG welding steel, a wire is continuously fed mechanically. This wire serves as an electrode to conduct the electricity, but is also the filler material. The wire becomes hot, melts on the workpiece and thus a molten pool is created. This molten pool is protected by a gas. In MIG welding, this is Metal Inert Gas. In addition to MIG welding steel, you can also MAG weld. MAG stands for Metal Active Gas. The difference between MAG and MIG welding steel is therefore in the gases that are used. Where MAG welding involves an active gas, such as carbon dioxide, MIG welding involves an inert gas, such as argon or mixtures of argon with helium or hydrogen gas. An inert gas does not react with the molten pool, while an active gas does.

Advantages of MIG welding of steel

The biggest advantage of MIG welding of steel is that it is a relatively simple welding technique. This is partly because the MIG welding technique can be applied in any position and is therefore universally applicable. MIG welding is also a reasonably fast welding process. This allows large workpieces and projects of size to be welded in a short time.
